“NEIGHBOUR-FRIENDLY” WALL A NATURAL BARRIER

HOW do you screen a new residential complex from old and shabby neighbouring buildings - and do it in an environmentally beneficial way?
This was the problem facing the developers of a new Tuscan-style housing development in Trichardt, Mpumalanga. The solution – which at the same time involved long-term environmental benefits – was found by the incorporation of Concor Technicrete’s Concor Earthform retaining wall system as the “foundation stone” of the overall landscaping of the complex.
Landscapers took advantage of the sloping site by fashioning a winding stepped path through an irregular barrier of Earthform garden blocks, adding to the natural, easy charm of the development’s landscape design.
The blocks, which can be stacked up to eight layers high, eliminate particularly steep slopes by forming natural-looking terraces, and in the process creating easy-to-maintain gardens. The design of the blocks also stimulates the growth of flowers and small shrubs from the front face of the wall. Beautiful - and incidentally very practical.
