EVERY five minutes a heavy truck passes through the gates of the ZZ2 tomato farm near Modjadiskloof in Limpopo Province – the largest in the southern hemisphere – taking a load of tomatoes to market or returning to pick up more. In the course of a 10-hour working day that’s 120 vehicles.
When paving an area of almost 2,5h at the huge farm’s headquarters became a major priority, a permanent solution was required to combat wear and tear on these surfaces caused by heavy traffic.
The answer was found with Technicrete’s Concor Double Zig-Zag 80 mm and 60 mm interlocking pavers, a heavy-duty paving block which could withstand the turning forces exerted by vehicles which are known to break up bitumen or premix surfaces.
The Technicrete blocks form a continuous hard-wearing surface overlay, and their interlocking design feature means they do not move under pressure, and retain a constant surface.
